Barkby Bakehouse is a family- owned and operated artisan bakery. We’ve only been around since 2016 when Sue decided that baking was a better way to spend her life than fighting corporate bureaucracy. We use fine ingredients and traditional methods to produce exceptional handmade breads, sourdough loaves, and tray bakes. We started off selling from a depot at Churchview Nursery but then soon branched out to supply local businesses and farmers markets. In addition to this we now bake to pre-order every Thursday to Saturday for local delivery or collection.
While we continually strive for innovation at Barkby Bakehouse, we’re continuing a long history of baking in Barkby, recreating the way bread used to be made here and other local villages before industrial bakeries and supermarkets took over. Our bakery is only metres away from the original bakehouse, run by the Hitchcox family in the early 20th century.
